LANSING – As part of a statewide plan to speed up construction projects and create jobs for Michigan workers, State Representative Kate Ebli (D-Monroe) today announced more than $17 million in projects at Monroe County Community College and Custer Airport that will create a combined 275 local jobs.
"My highest priority is turning our economy around and getting Michigan's workers back on the job," Ebli said. "These projects are part of my commitment to secure the resources that Monroe County needs to be competitive in the global economy. By investing in our schools, we will ensure that they will have the resources to train our students in the technical, high-demand fields of the 21st century."
Monroe County Community College will receive $17 million for the construction of a technology center. Custer Airport will receive over $150,000 for the repair of the airport's entrance road. The two projects are part of a statewide push to fund construction projects at universities, colleges, airports, military facilities and state parks.
"These projects will create good-paying jobs for Michigan families and build a strong workforce that will attract the job providers of the 21st century to Michigan," Ebli said. "If we're going to ensure a bright economic future for Michigan, we need to invest in our communities to make them strong and vibrant."
