CARLETON – State Representative Kate Ebli (D-Monroe) hosted a town hall meeting Monday evening at the Ash Township Hall to discuss train crossings that affect residents of Monroe County.
In recent months, Ebli has hosted town hall meetings on issues ranging from identity theft to the state's aggressive renewable energy plan. She noted that this town hall is an example of how important it is for residents to share their concerns about community issues with her.
"Residents around Monroe County are quite familiar with being delayed at train crossings," Ebli said. "I organized this town hall meeting because some residents have expressed concern about the length of delays they have encountered at certain crossings. I listened to their concerns and felt that a town hall would be the ideal setting for residents to directly discuss the issue with an executive from the railroad industry."
Ebli's guest at the town hall was Tom Drake from CSX railroad, who is the company's regional vice president for state relations.
"I'd like to thank Tom Drake of CSX railroad for accepting my invitation to be the special guest at this meeting," Ebli said. "Most of all, I'd like to thank those who attended. We all lead busy lives, but it strengthens our community when people are able to find time to discuss local issues like this one in a town hall setting."
