LANSING – State Representative Kate Ebli (D-Monroe) today was named Chair of the House Committee on Tax Policy for the 95th Legislature. Ebli also was named to the Energy and Technology Committee; Great Lakes and Environment Committee; and the Tourism, Outdoor Recreation and Natural Resources Committee.
"My top priority has always been to create jobs for our residents, so I am extremely pleased to have been named Chair of the Tax Policy Committee," Ebli said. "Enacting effective tax policies will play a crucial role in making Michigan a more business friendly state. By becoming a magnet for emerging companies and making it easier for our residents to run successful small businesses, we can repair our economy and create lasting jobs for our residents."
Ebli will continue her focus on standing up for working families and fighting to create good- paying jobs during the 95th Legislature. She is also committed to using emerging fields like renewable energy to move Michigan forward, which will help attract new companies to Michigan and create jobs that can't be outsourced to other states and countries.
Ebli previously served as Vice Chair of the Tourism, Outdoor Recreation and Natural Resources Committee and as a member of the Energy and Technology; Great Lakes and Environment; and Transportation committees during the 94th Legislature.
"A countless amount of tourism jobs depend on the vitality of our natural resources," Ebli said. "While we were able to pass a number of needed protections last year, much more needs to be done to preserve our land, air and water. I look forward to working as a part of these committees to promote good stewardship of our natural resources and to protect our tourism industry now and for generations to come."
