LANSING – State Representative Kate Ebli (D-Monroe) today applauded the awarding of a state grant to help the Monroe County Road Commission (MCRC) repair North Dixie Highway, an important piece of county infrastructure.
"A well-operating infrastructure is a vital part of a successful economy," Ebli said. "These repairs will go a long way toward ensuring our residents and goods and services can keep moving along our roads, and they will help keep our economy moving as well. This is great news for Monroe County,"
The funding is a part of $2.5 million in new state Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF) Category F grants announced by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
The MCRC will receive $375,000 from the state TEDF to mill and repair one mile of North Dixie Highway, a commercial route that provides direct access to I-75 and an industrial park in Frenchtown Township. The entire project will cost $600,000.
"I'm extremely pleased the Department of Transportation saw how necessary it was to provide Monroe County with this funding," Ebli said. "Maintaining our roads will help our economy function to the best of its ability and create good-paying jobs for our residents."
