LANSING – State Representative Kate Ebli (D-Monroe) today urged her colleagues in the Michigan House of Representatives to join her in support of a plan that will reward high-tech businesses that invest in Michigan and create good-paying jobs for our state's residents.
"This plan has the potential to attract key players in emerging fields such as renewable energy to Michigan and create thousands of jobs for our workers," Ebli said. "These are the exact types of cutting-edge industries we need to invest in our state in order to make Michigan a powerhouse in the 21st century global economy. I strongly urge my colleagues in the House to join me in supporting this very important legislation."
The plan will create a pool of forgivable loans for new and established companies who decide to locate in Michigan and have the potential to create a significant number of jobs for Michigan residents. The plan passed the House Commerce Committee this morning and will be up for a full vote by the House this afternoon.
"Michigan has a great foundation of highly skilled workers that can attract new businesses to our state," Ebli said. "Our workers already have the know-how and dedication to manufacture products like wind turbines, solar panels and other equipment that can be used in the renewable energy industry. By establishing these loans, we can create thousands of jobs in our communities that can't be outsourced and move Michigan forward."
