LANSING – State Representative Kate Ebli (D-Monroe) today encouraged residents to take advantage of online resources to find Michigan-made products and services provided by local companies as a way of supporting Michigan's workers and strengthening our state's economy.
"The start of the new year makes this a great time to get in the habit of thinking locally," Ebli said. "Residents sometimes ask me what they can do on an individual level to support other working families in our state – and I say that a great place to start is by purchasing Michigan's fine products. Michigan residents have a deep and profound loyalty to community – it's one of the many reasons I am so proud to live in the Great Lakes State."
There are many resources available online to learn which products are made in our state. You can check out www.buymichiganproducts.com and www.buymichigannow.com for directories that make it easy to make Michigan-made products your first choice when you shop.
A relatively new site, www.BuyMichFirst.com, also lists companies and their products. Local businesses can log on to the site and register their information if they haven't done so already.
"I work hard every day to promote initiatives that create local jobs for our workers and boost our economy," Ebli said. "I am excited to spread the word about resources that will enable residents to support local businesses that invest in our communities and strengthen our economies."
